Old and New

The circus came to town last week!  Actually, it was Cirque Dreams and they came to a hangar on base!  Anu and the boys got to see a very nice performance, for free!  Unfortunately, the pictures didn't come out too well, but it was still a great time.

Saturday, we all took the dolmuş (shared bus taxi) into Old Adana.  This was Anu's fourth trip on the dolmuş and she knew exactly where she was going!
a typical dolmuş
Riding the dolmuş into Adana!
We went to a few shops and stopped by an arts and crafts store, where the two female shopkeepers loved the boys.  Elijah has grown accustomed to the attention, and to the constant supply of chocolates and candies from every shop!  He's also gotten spoiled by the customary çay (Turkish black tea, pronounced like "chai") you are given if you stay in a shop for awhile.  So while Elijah was munching on a chocolate bar at the craft store, he said, "Some çay, TOO, Daddy!  Peeease!"

We decided to stop for lunch at a doner place before returning home.  This time, the owner's wife picked up Ezekiel and carried him around the restaurant, showing him to other patrons and staff.  When in Turkey!
Two chicken doners, coming right up!
The hat trio was Anu's idea!
The owner's wife took an immediate liking to Z, but he wasn't so sure! (cue whimper in 3...2...1...)
Sunday morning, we finally made it out to new Adana and found a Mado cafe, famous for its ice cream.  So good!!  This will become a regular outing, especially since they have baklava and other wonderful goodies.  And of course, our morning couldn't be complete without stopping to pick up a fresh loaf of bread and some fresh veggies, all for under 3 bucks!
If one ball is good, five balls are better!

Of course we'll take you! I guess that means we'll have to go there many, many times so we are the experts on all they have to offer. It is a tough job, but someone's gotta do it! :o)

We really are blessed. It's easy to dwell on the difficult things, but we really are having an adventure over here!
