A couple of weeks ago, we decided to do a day trip to Tarsus. We'd been there once before but couldn't find some sightseeing spots. So this time, we came armed with a Garmin loaned by friends who had programmed tourist spots. We wanted to find a "kultur park" of a decommissioned Turkish naval vessel. Fun times!

Daniel was determined to find the Berdan waterfall ("
şelale") this time around...except the Garmin did not have it loaded in. So, he looked up the translation for "waterfall" in Turkish and off we went. Look, a sign with "Şelale" pointing that way! (...a few km later...) Hmm. We're in an industrial park. Let's backtrack. Another sign! (...pointing a different direction...) How many waterfalls can there be in Tarsus? A stop at a gas station. "Şelale?" (Gas attendant rapidly gives directions, then sees the blank expressions on our faces, slows down and uses hand gestures as if talking to a 5 year-old. A right, 3 km, a left, something about 2 "lamps" (stoplights!) Thank you!! (...a little while later...) Hmm. We're in a bad area of town. Let's backtrack. Finally we found it! Success! We plugged it into our friends' Garmin so it'll be easier to find next time.

I love the waterfall!!! It's gorgeous! I've been there numerous times.
But the ship -- we never found that! You go!
Miss you guys!
Wow! The pictures you took of the waterfall are prettier than those in the books I've looked at! Can't wait to see it and picnic there! Hooray! So maybe when Paul was growing up (Saul), and later when he returned for a season, he enjoyed this very spot!!!
