This, That, and Other Things

This post is a hodge podge of miscellaneous stuff we wanted to put up before our trip to Cappadocia in a few days.

Roman Holiday
Okay, it wasn't a holiday, but we did drive over to the Hilton in Adana, parked in their paid parking and walked over to and across the Roman stone bridge!  This bridge was built in the 4th Century A.D. and was still open to motorized traffic until 2007.
The main mosque in Adana, modeled after the Blue Mosque in Istanbul (taken from the roman bridge)
You can see the top has been renovated, but the original stonework is below.
Awesome Evangelism
We also recently visited the cave of St Thecla when we were last out in Kizkalesi.  It's difficult to differentiate between the real story and the legend that has grown up around this person, but this seems to be undisputed: The apostle Paul was witnessing to some people near Silifke, Turkey (a few kilometers from Kizkalesi) when a girl who lived next door overheard him speaking.  She converted to Christianity and endured horrible persecution as a result.  Can you imagine?!  Paul didn't even know she was listening but the Holy Spirit certainly did!  Just goes to show us that we have no idea how God will use us if we are faithful to Him.  Unfortunately, we arrived at the cave a few minutes after it was closed for the day, but the nice man at the front desk still let us walk around and peak in from the outside.

The remains of a basilica built above the cave.  Daniel wanted the van in this one since she's a part of the family, too
I was going to put up some funny Elijah-isms, but they deserve a post all to themselves!
