A Week of Easter Fun

We had a fun time teaching Elijah all about Easter this year and doing lots of fun activities that he's never gotten to do before. We also did our best to explain the significance of what Easter is all about, but we may have to wait until next year before he truly understands!

We started out the week dying Easter eggs with friends. We have been so fortunate to have so many other little boys Elijah's age! I wasn't sure if he'd be willing to eat his creations later, but apparently having them decorated made hard-boiled eggs even more delicious!

The boys got an opportunity to meet the Easter Bunny. Elijah came close long enough to snatch his prize from the bunny's hand and then back up a safe distance! Zeke however, gave the bunny a really looong look before settling into his lap. At least there were no tears!
Easter morning we had our own little Easter egg hunt in our backyard. (It's so exciting to actually have a backyard to do these things now!) He found some eggs along with Lightning McQueen and Mater (from the movie Cars), but the real find was when discovered the chocolate eggs inside the plastic eggs.

"Oooh, chocit!"
We had our church service in the park that morning. It was actually pretty nice once we moved into the shade. Elijah quietly played with his new cars on our picnic blanket other than occasionally repeating things that the Chaplain was saying. It amazes us how much he listens to everything around him!
A little worn-out after our beach adventure that weekend
So what did we do with all those plastic eggs? We turned them into shakers of course! A few dried beans and a little hot glue...instant musical instruments! Perfect for all the singing that goes on at our place.
Playing with dried beans may become a new favorite activity!
