It is almost laughable to see how much smaller I was at the time of the baby shower, not to mention back in Syracuse! It's amazing that people could even tell I was pregnant! I am now at 30+ weeks and wrapping up my 7th month...and there is no doubt that I am very pregnant. I am starting to do the pregnant waddle and my back and feet are definitely complaining about the extra load I'm carrying.Daniel has been busy with classes and homework. He suffered a visit to Florida for a few days last week to see a couple bases near the Gulf. White sand beaches certainly helped him overcome separation anxiety! He was most excited about seeing a few military planes that his Dad flew when he was in the Navy. Daniel also made it through his first test yesterday. We don't know scores yet, but we do know that he passed!
I've been keeping myself occupied with a variety of projects. It has been much too hot to go walking out here (at any time of the day), so I"ve been getting some good exercise by going swimming every other day. I have to work it inbetween the thunderstorms (I check the weather for even an hour of sunshine), but it's worked out really well. I'm practically turning into a fish...a very tan one!
And I'm proud to say that I have finally finished the crib bumper that I've been talking about for so long!! I've just got to sew on some ties (when I get back to Albuquerque), but it's otherwise good-to-go! I made it double-sided so it has two different patterns. The side that will face the outside crib rails will be alternating blocks of solids and patterns, while the side facing inside the crib will be Beatrix Potter characters.

The solid colors (including the border) are all flannel, so the bumper is reallly soft.
I got these Peter Rabbit characters from fabric that was designed to make a soft-cover book.I'm taking a brief break from my sewing projects to work on some painting projects. Both items should be finished up in just a day or two, so I won't make you wait as long to see the finished products!
