Alright, before those who know me start freaking out, I am not doing the "d" word (that would be dieting). I simply like to be aware of what I am putting in my body (It is God's temple!). I took a nutrition class in college and learned all about the Body Mass Index, caloric intake and eating healthy foods. However, our lifestyles have changed pretty drastically from being in school to now working and from moving from a warm climate to a cold climate. I found this cool website called calorie-count that gave me everything I was looking for and more. You can type in almost any food into the search bar and it will give you all the nutritional information. Daniel and I both excercise fairly regularly and we eat pretty healthy so I wasn't really concerned. What I didn't realize is that with our lifestyle changing, I didn't need to eat as many calories as I used to. Also, I love fruit, but with my love of fruit, pb&j's, granola bars and of course, dessert, I am eating way too much sugar! I typed in the cereal I had for breakfast and all the contents of my lunch...and found that there really wasn't much room for dinner! (I don't think I'll be eating my whole lunch!) Anyways, it took less than a minute to figure out my BMI (it tells you if are within your weight bracket for your age and height) and my required daily caloric intake. The website helps you calculate weight loss goals, the calorie information from home recipes, and even provides you with healthy recipes! For a society that battles with weight, diabetes, and heart disease, a free resource like this is pretty awesome!
